Moving around Malta

Moving around the archipelago of Malta in public transports is simple and inexpensive.
Although sadly the picturesque orange buses pictured below are no longer in service, the modern ones will take you to the same places, covering all of Malta and Gozo islands. However, they can make quite a few stops and roads aren't very large so it can take some time until you reach your destination. For more information on Malta buses, access the public transport site.

To cross from the island of Malta to Gozo take the ferry from Cirkewwa to Mgarr. Ferries leave about every 45 minutes and take about 25 minutes to cross the channel. More information in Gozo Channel website.

To visit the smallest of the three main islands, Comino, you can also take the ferry, either from Mgarr (Gozo) or Cirkewwa (Malta). There's a ferry every 30 minutes from Cirkewwa in the high season; you can get more information on Comino Ferry Service website. To visit from Mgarr there's a ferry every hour, operated by Ebson Comino Ferries

If you're staying in Sliema don't miss the magnificent view of Valletta and Manoel island from the sea. There's a ferry every 30 minutes from each side, Valletta and Sliema. However, when you reach Valletta there's a steep hill to climb. For more information check the Valletta Ferry Service website.
