Bruges Christmas Market, Belgium

This small Christmas market takes place between late November and the beginning of January. It is located in two separate squares, the Grote Markt and the Simon Stevinsplein. It includes the traditional wooden chalets and an ice rink in the Grote Markt, just across the Belfry.

The Christmas atmosphere is great as Bruges resembles a town out of a fairytale book. The Christmas market, however, can be disappointing as it is small without anything original or traditional to buy. It isn't as large and with as many attractions as the "Plaisirs d'Hiver" in Brussels and not as Christmassy as the old traditional markets in Germany or Hungary. So if you're looking specifically for the Christmas market experience, don't travel to Bruges on purpose.
